Post-Treatment Support

At our facility, we are dedicated to providing comprehensive care and support to our patients.

Post-treatment Pain Management

Our practices focus is treating the source of pain. Medications can mask the symptoms and are not routinely managed on an ongoing basis in our office.

Overall, the objective of Interventional Pain Management is minimizing the need for opioids and other chronic pain medications. As healthcare providers, we have seen the devastating effects of the opioid crisis on our community.  We will go to great lengths to protect our patients from the significant risks that are associated with opioids. We follow guidelines and regulations from the State Medical Board of California, the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Our goal is to ultimately help reduce your pain and improve your daily function so that you can live your life not limited by pain. Treatment of chronic pain typically involves a comprehensive approach, which may include physical therapy, chiropractic, acupuncture, medications, interventional pain treatments, and/or surgery. When the pain is severe, acute in nature, and not managed by non-opioid medications, opioids may be indicated as a part of a more comprehensive treatment plan.

Moreover, we are here to help reduce suffering and long-term risks. We have successfully treated a wide range of pain conditions with treatments that are safe, non-invasive or minimally invasive, clinically-proven, and highly effective. We are proud to report that many of our patients, with these treatments, have been able to successfully reduce or eliminate their pain! Please see our patient testimonials for additional information

For some procedures performed by our doctor, a modest amount of pain is expected for a short post-operative period. Our team will inform you whether to expect pain and will provide instructions to reduce or eliminate post-procedural pain.

We will work with your primary care physician or prescribing doctor to evaluate and facilitate the safest and most effective regimen of treatments for each individual.

Post-procedural medications: We recommend getting ahead of post-operative pain. For surgical procedures including spinal cord stimulator implants and peripheral nerve stimulator implants, MILD and Vertiflex, we recommend alternating acetaminophen and “prescription” strength Ibuprofen TID), unless there is a medical contraindication to NSAIDs. When needed, opioid medicines may be prescribed for 3-5 days in post-operative cases. Opioids will always be prescribed for the shortest period and at the lowest doses possible to control the pain symptoms. (Our office does not prescribe routine opioids for reasons other than post-procedural pain.)
